This text eloquently highlights the distinct and unique vulnerabilities that impact the aging population--specifically those living in rural places. As we emerge into the new managed health-care system, we must identify, assess, and intervene and provide services for those clients who are at a disadvantage and have unique needs. As Social Workers, it is our ethical obligation to ensure our competence.
Highly recommended for those practitioners from both urban and rural places to become more educated and aware of the unique vulnerabilities and complexities that result from serving the aging rural population.
